This would become "not a commercial driven mag but an exposure mag". Read below the full Philippika (actually two) from Timothy:

we are stupid or something
have you seen how much has changed with music, fashion and art over the last year?
The guys that are doing it ..have taken the shit into their own hands... Im know Im not waiting around to fall into someone elses tired old process. If I have to look at another personal portfolio ...Im going to puke. Lets create our own process for showing our work and self promotion. I just dont believe that we should be sitting around talking about the piss poor state of the industry when I have seen over 2 dozen new magazines start up over the last year that are doing really well. Online or print. They looking for new ways to survive and prosper.
Lets pull out the bulldozers and do something with the obvious around here. No man is an island..
We put the shit that we are already doing together and reach a larger audience... instead of just shooting tests and stories for our books that nobody sees but the occassional client and model. Its one of the reasons I took my own site down and just rotate one image on the main page. Self promotion has changed. It had to. I believe you have to develop your audience first before you really have something to offer a client. Sort of like being in a band.
Lets do something about it. Lets create our own audience..and you know you cant do that alone and you cant wait around for a magazine to do it for you. They have an over abundance to select from already. Lets reach a larger audience with our personal work and process by organizing it into some sort of voice online.
What do you guys think Showstudio is? Thats the biggest form of self promotion Nick Knight has and the majority of it is other peoples work. Hes not stupid..I can assure you of that. And we can do that with fashion mode contributors who have been spending a great deal of their time here for over 2 years. I think we should start to make good use of our time here and put all our words into form with fashionmode. Many of you already do that in the real world. I just belive we should do it here as part of a natural evolution of self promotion. Im sure of it.

I would add that most collectives fail because of lack of "buy in".
I dont care how good your doing.. you cant afford to not "buy in" to new ways of self promotion in this market. I mean that. I dont care who you are or how good your doing. The reality is nightmarish.
I saw a good friend here last year who spent two months shooting a story for Oyster that was "in the can" with its editor. It was beautiful work and they cut it at the last minute. They have the power and if you know me...thats doesnt sit well. We used to complain about not getting paid. The reality is much much worse than being good and not getting paid right now guys. Much worse.
